What happens when you...
2:07 PMSo, I decided to do a little secret experiment over the past 3 days and I'm going to share with you the results. This probably isn't recommended but I want to be straight up honest with you all so here goes...
I woke up a little late on Wednesday morning and decided that instead of doing my regular for breakfast, my Shakeology, that I would go to Starbucks and grab some coffee and either a breakfast sandwich or a pastry (since I had been pretty good about my eating for the days leading up to it). So, I did.
I got to work and had an idea. I talk about this Shakeology stuff all the time and I drink it daily but I wanted to see what would happen if I stopped drinking it for a few days. I've been drinking it daily for the past 3 months. I wanted to see if there REALLY would be any noticeable difference if I skipped a day. I've heard lots of people say that they notice if they don't drink it one day but I decided I was going to try and see just how long it would take for me to feel a real noticeable difference. I didn't do this to see if it was addictive. I did it because I KNOW it is full of nutrients that my body needs to properly function.
Well, I'm here today, 3 days later, to tell you it has been a horrific past 3 days for me in several different areas.
Day 1 (Wed): I didn't really notice a HUGE difference except that I was little groggy in the afternoon. And, I woke up 3 times in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back to sleep. That was really the only difference that day. I did manage to get my workout in today.
Day 2 (Thurs): by lunchtime I was exhausted and my cravings for junkie food were settling in. I ended up having a turkey sub and chips for lunch (they were baked though ;) ). Dinner was little better because it was provided for me. Salad with chicken on it. But, by 6 pm, I felt like I had literally been hit by a truck. I was exhausted. I had already had 3 cups of coffee for the day and ended up having another in the evening just to get through. I got home late and was wiped out so went straight to bed BUT woke up 3 times again. Thursdays is my off day for my workouts so that was good for me.
Day 3 (Frid): I woke up early and pushed myself, took the dog for a walk, got my Starbucks and went to work. By 11am, I was hungry but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING sounded good to me (ask the girls at work, we couldn't come up with anything). I decided to head home for my break and let the dog out. I literally had to force myself to get something to eat. I ended up getting a turkey and cheese sandwich (which I didn't even finish) and some roasted potatoes (which I ate 1). My appetite was GONE. I got home after work, and felt sick. I had no energy whatsoever and my appetite was completely gone. I never ended up eating dinner. Watched my nieces and nephews for the evening, and came back here to the house I'm dogsitting at and crashed. No workout today other than the 20 min walk with the dog in the morning!! Woke up 3 times again in the middle of the night.
TODAY: I couldn't take it anymore!!! My energy was shot, my appetite was gone, I felt like POOP!! Sorry, just being honest. 3 days of no Shakeology!! NEVER AGAIN!!
I took some energize to get me going enough to press play. Completed PiYo Lower Body. And now I'm drinking my Shakeology. OH I HAVE MISSED THIS!!
Now, some of you may be reading this and thinking, "Wow, that stuff must be addictive if you are having withdrawals like that." Not true. What it is is that my body has become used to having the PROPER nutrition that it needs to properly function. And when I took that away, it shut down!! Quite literally too (not gonna go in to those details).
Before I drank Shakeology, these kinds of things were actually regular occurrences. I rarely ever made it through a whole night without waking up several times. I felt bloated all the time. I ALWAYS had an afternoon crash. My appetite fluctuated all the time. And, my body struggled staying regular.
Shakeology isn't the only reason these symptoms have changed for me either but it has given me the boost that I needed to get and stay on track. When I drink it daily, I don't have the crazy cravings for junk food as often. I have WAY more energy throughout my day. I sleep straight through the night with no problems. I'm regular. I never feel bloated.
You can regulate all these things with proper nutrition too. But, most people don't get the daily proper nutrition that our bodies need. Shakeology can help with that. It's full of TONS of vitamins that do occur in foods but either you'd have to eat a whole truck loads worth of those foods to get the amount you need or they aren't even available here in the US because they are indigenous to other countries. Or you can take a multi-vitamin...which I tried to do but never remembered to or stopped after so long because I hate taking medicine or pills. Shakeology is my breakfast, and it tastes delicious!!
So...there you have it. My 3 day experiment and my results. NEVER AGAIN will I go 3 days without
