How do I stay consistent?
1:14 PMSo many of you know that January 1 of this year was a turning point for me. I took a good look at my life last December and I honestly was not happy with the way I was living and all I could think of was, "I'm almost 30 and what have I accomplished"? It actually freaked me out to think about. So I decided to change. I did this in 2 different ways: spiritual fitness & of course physical fitness (which most of you know that). I'm going to highlight the spiritual fitness aspect today.

But, all that being said, just like any human being, I'm still a sinner and I struggle with sin as much as the next person. One of the biggest things I've struggled with all of my life is a personal quiet time or specific time I set aside to spend time in God's Word and with Him. Anyone else with me? I think it's probably something every Christian struggles with or has struggled with, especially Americans. We fill our lives with so much STUFF that we find it hard to "make time" for God. Well, I knew that I needed to get this under control. I mean, almost 30 years old and I still felt like I had very little relationship with the person who loves me the most and that I claim to love the most. It was time for me to actually start living what I was saying I believed.
So, I decided to make it my #1 priority to find a way to make this a part of my daily life. I knew I need to find a way to do this that made me CRAVE it so that I wouldn't miss it. It was shortly thereafter that I discovered a website that has honestly forever changed my life and my relationship with my Savior. It's called She Reads Truth. It is an online community where women from all over are coming together to study the Word of God through daily truth readings and studies. EVERY DAY there is a new reading that gets you in to the Word of God and there is a reflection/commentary afterwards that helps you really apply it. You can even purchase physical study guides to write in to keep for future readings. It's AMAZING to say the least. I use it EVERY SINGLE DAY. They even have a new companion site for men called He Reads Truth. The studies coincide so that everyone is studying the same thing. It's awesome to be able to join my guy friends and discuss what we're learning and studying "together". And, just like any good website, there's an app for it too. You can take it everywhere with you. This year alone I've gotten to study books such as Esther, Daniel, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Timothy, John, and studies specific to the Resurrection, hymn studies, women in the Bible, keeping near the cross, and we're currently doing Open Your Bible. It's really awesome!! I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a way to revamp their personal Bible study and/or for someone who may be searching for the answer to the age old question, "What is the meaning of life"? I LOVE doing these studies. They make me WANT to dig in to the Word daily.
And that's the key. To stay consistent in ANYTHING, you have to find something you enjoy. Something you can't live without. Pick it up and start practicing it and pretty soon you'll have added in a new habit that, so long as it's positive, will positively CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!
